What is Acetaminophen?

Acetaminophen, similar to aspirin, is one of the most commonly used over-the-counter medications. Acetaminophen is prescribed as arthritis pain medication, as well as used to relieve menstrual pain, headache pain, sore muscles, tooth pain, fevers and more. Acetaminophen belongs to a class of drugs called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). The exact mechanism of action of Acetaminophen is not known.
